**NEW PROJECT** -- Richard to join Lisa Kudrow on stage in "Johnny On The Spot"
Burgi Bonanza for German viewers!
[10/29/01] *** Richard's feature film, "Wheelmen," is now in production *** -- Richard recently started work on the indie feature film "Wheelmen." Lexi Alexander, one of the film's producers, very kindly shared some of the production basics with us. Richard is playing Nick Torino -- a "former hotshot ambulance driver who teams up with a group of eclectic L.A. limo drivers to prevent a kidnapping attempt of the Vice President."
According to Alexander, "Richard's love interest will be played by Erin Daniels, who just finished starring in Robin Williams' new movie 'One Hour Photo.' The movie also stars William Gregory Lee (Dark Angel), Rainn Wilson (Almost Famous, America's Sweethearts, Galaxy Quest), Jason Kravits (The Practice), and many more recognizable names."
Also joining the cast of "Wheelmen" are James Avery
(The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), and Desmond Askew (Go), with a possible
cameo by Dougie Brimson.
The director, Dirk Hagen, and the producers are said to be "very excited to have Richard on board" the production.
We will, of course, update this information as soon as we learn further details.
(Thanks to Lexi Alexander for the "Wheelmen" information!)
[1029/01] ** FALL 2001 Charity Auction Update ** -- The proceeds of the Fall 2001 Charity Auction were presented on Saturday, October 27th to the Friends of the Sea Lion Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach, California. The Auction proceeds and related contributions totaled $4,817.
Richard and his family joined RBFC president Kathleen Cole
at the FSLMMC's Laguna Beach facility for the presentation of the
Auction proceeds, and spent part of the afternoon touring the Center and
learning more about its programs. The volunteer-run, staffed, and funded
Center was extremely pleased with the RBFC contribution, as their
contributions and donations have suffered in the aftermath of September
For a complete listing of auctioned items, along with pictures of the items and the high bids, please visit our auction catalog page.
Special thanks go to Richard and Lori Burgi (who donated the lion's
share of the items up for auction), Jen Raisler,
[10/29/01] *** Richard to join "Friends" star Lisa Kudrow on the stage *** -- Richard will appear with Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe on NBC's long-running hit sitcom "Friends") in the play "Johnny On The Spot." At present, we have no details on his character or the theme of the play. More information as we receive it!
[10/29/01] *** "24" to premiere on FOX in just over a week -- Tuesday, November 6th at 9:00pm ET/PT *** Catch Richard in the new Fall 2001 FOX drama as Alan York, newly divorced father of a wayward -- and missing -- teenage daughter.
Series lead Kiefer Sutherland plays the part of CIA Counter Intelligence Unit agent Jack Bauer, who has 24 hours to stop an assassination attempt on Presidential nominee David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert), while Richard's Alan York -- aided by Bauer's wife Terri (Leslie Hope) -- searches for their two missing daughters, Janet and Kim (Elisha Cuthbert). (The girls, best friends, have disappeared). The series will build to its climactic finale in episode 24 -- "zero hour," so to speak.
As is often the case with new shows, FOX has so far only ordered thirteen episodes of "24;" the show's ratings performance will be taken into consideration before the final eleven episodes are ordered.
Richard will, presumably, continue to play the part of Alan York through the run of the series, with the "missing daughter" storyline forming -- one assumes -- a "b" story to the assassination "a" story.
[09/01/01] *** "24" UPDATE: Richard filming six-episode story arc for first block of "24" episodes *** -- Richard is currently working on a six-episode story arc for "24," most likely dealing with the missing daughters. At present, we do not know if Alan York will be back in later episodes or not; including the pilot, Richard will be in six or seven of the first thirteen episodes ordered by FOX.
As FOX is now running promos for "24" -- some featuring Richard -- messages and letters to FOX would not be amiss. Interested in seeing more of Richard Burgi when the show premieres? Tell FOX. Planning to watch the show because you've seen Richard in the promos? Tell FOX. Looking forward to "24" because one of your favorite actors, Richard Burgi, has a role in the series? By all means, tell FOX!

As of this date -- October 29th -- the producers of "The District" have not written Richard's Captain Vincent Hunter into any of the Fall 2001 season's episodes. This may change as the season progresses and later scripts are written and cast.
[08/31/01]*** "The District" is now airing on German TV -- Wednesdays at 21:10pm on VOX *** -- "The District" will remain in that timeslot throughout its run. Thus far, VOX has bought 23 episodes (the first season) which will be dubbed into German and titled "The District - Einsatz in Washington."
Though VOX is private TV, it should be available "free and clear" throughout Europe, even though dubbed into German. Those with satellite systems can tune in using the following coordinates:
ASTRA reception area Transponder 89 (27500,3/4) ASTRA-1H
ASTRA reception area Transponder 05 (,) ASTRA-1F
(Thanks to Steffi for the scheduling information)

Simply visit the CBS website's "District" page and use the feedback link, or send a "paper mail" message to "The District" through their direct mailing address listed below:

[09/01/01] *** "Viper" airing in Germany on Premiere World's SciFi Channel -- Saturdays at 16:05pm *** Catch Richard as suave, sophisticated, and deadly leader of Metro City's organized crime "Outfit," Lane Cassidy, in four of the show's first season episodes:
Please note: the episodes are retitled in German.

[09/01/01] *** One West Waikiki airing on Belgian cable channel RTBF 1 -- Sundays at 21:41pm *** Viewers in Belgium, or European residents with access to RTBF 1, can catch Richard as rogueish and irreverent Honolulu PD homicide detective Lieutenant Mack Wolfe. The episodes remain in English with French subtitling.
Set and filmed in Hawaii, the 1994-95 series was promoted as a modern-day "Quincy" with a touch of "Magnum, P.I." Cheryl Ladd, as Medical Examiner Dr. Dawn "Holli" Holliday, provided the "Quincy" aspect while Richard Burgi's Mack Wolfe gave the show its "Magnum" qualities. Initially airing on CBS, the show was cancelled after little more than a month and shifted over into syndication by Glen Larson Productions and Rysher. In all, some twenty episodes were produced, with the two-hour pilot movie being split into two episodes.
(Thanks to Steffi for the schedule information and screen-grab)
[01/30/01]*** Write to Richard care of the RBFC! *** -- Richard has asked us to encourage anyone interested in sending cards or letters to him to use the RBFC mailing address, which is listed below. This allows Richard to better handle his incoming mail, which he certainly enjoys receiving, provided it comes through appropriate channels.
Mr. Richard Burgi
We cannot emphasize strongly enough that mail should not be sent to Richard's home address! Receiving fan mail through his home address is a disquieting experience and cause for concern, especially from the standpoint of privacy and safety. If you have come across what you believe may be his home address, please, do NOT use it! We -- and Richard -- would greatly appreciate it if you would let us know where you came across the address by using this e-mail link to the RBFC.
While postcards, letters, and cards will be promptly forwarded to Richard, we cannot forward packages; he has asked that no gifts be sent to him. Though Richard appreciates the goodwill and generosity those gifts represent, he finds them a little overwhelming. Richard would be honored if, instead, wellwishers made a donation in his name to a local children's shelter or literacy program.
[10/27/01]*** "The Sentinel" still on SciFi Channel broadcast hiatus *** -- When "The Sentinel" disappeared from Sci-Fi's broadcasts and schedule listings in mid-July, SOS (Support Our Sentinel) contacted the Sci-Fi Channel and learned the following:
SOS Advisory - The Sentinel on Sci-Fi (advisory issued July 23, 2001)
In two separate conversations with the Sci-Fi Channel on July 18, SOS has learned of the following.
Chris Regina, Director of Programming, and Bonnie Hammer's office confirm that The Sentinel has been removed from the Sci-Fi schedule, most likely for the remainder of 2001. Both sources state that this is for "budgetary reasons." This was further explained by Regina as Sci-Fi having exhausted their budget for showing The Sentinel for this year. They have a certain dollar amount to spend on the showings, and it must be spread out.
Both state that this action is for this year. Both say that The Sentinel will be back in January 2002. Regina further stated that while January is more likely, there is the possibility that it will be back as early as October.
Earlier this year, Chris Regina indicated to SOS that The Sentinel was a property that Sci-Fi would continue to use. At that time, he claimed that they had no current plans to remove The Sentinel from the Sci-Fi schedule permanently, at least through 2001
This statement, along with his most recent information, would seem to mean that we can expect to see The Sentinel's eventual return to Sci-Fi.
In the meantime, SOS advises that Sentinel (and Burgi) fans send the folks at Sci-Fi periodic reminders that their Sentinel audience is still in place and eagerly anticipating the show's return to the Sci-Fi schedule. This can easily be done via e-mail, or through the Sci-Fi website's "feedback" system -- or, if one feels especially energetic, by post-card or letter.
