Richard films short promotional film with friends in Vancouver *** -- Richard
recently spent a rainy weekend in Vancouver exploring the city and working
with Vancouver-based actors and friends Brent Chapman, Don S. Davis
(Stargate:SG1), and Teryl Rothery (Stargate:SG1) on a light-hearted
short promotional film by Ian James Corlett.
"Door-to-door Voiceovers" is one of many projects Corlett and
Chapman have worked on, with Corlett writing and directing and Chapman
acting. The short was conceived mainly as a promotion for Corlett's voiceover
company, Promo Alliance, to be passed around for grins from person
to person within the Industry.
Chapman worked with Richard on The Sentinel ("Neighborhood Watch"),
and the two have remained friends ever since. According to Corlett, he
and Chapman "kicked around many ideas for who might play the 'handyman.'
My dream was to have some recognizable actor but never thought Dick would
be that actor." As it turned out, Richard planned to be in town
and was happy to help out with the project. "Richard was a joy to work
with," Corlett concluded.
Richard plays the aforementioned Handyman, with Chapman playing
door-to-door Voiceover entrepreneur Rick St. Michael. Rothery
plays Mrs. Vance, the customer Rick loses to the crafty Handyman,
and Davis plays a less-than-promising prospect of Rick's. (Don S.
Davis also appeared in an episode of The Sentinel, "Crossroads").

Burgi's "Wildfires" gets new name, A&E Network September airdate ***
Richard spent several weeks in late Spring in Vancouver, BC, working on
a TV movie for A&E Television Networks.
The film, now called "Firestorm: Last Stand at Yellowstone," will
premiere on A&E on Labor Day -- Monday, Septhember 4th at 9:00pm ET.
Drawing inspiration from the situations and events of the record-breaking
1988 wildfires which scorched Yellowstone National Park, and from co-producer
Barker's book "Scorched Earth," "Firestorm: Last Stand at Yellowstone"
focuses on a present-day Yellowstone firefighter and his team as they battle
a similarly monstrous inferno erupting over the July 4th holiday weekend.
Richard plays firefighter Richard Danville and costars
with Scott Foley (Scrubs' Sean Kelly; Felicity's Noel),
who plays Clay Harding. Canadian Provincial Parks and areas
Squamish, Princeton, and E.C. Manning Park
provided look-alike locations for Yellowstone National Park.
Filming on the Vancouver-based production will ran from May 8th to June
5th, with John Lafia directing from a script by John Fasano
and Mark Wheaton. Produced by Cypress Point Productions
in association with Jaffe/Braunstein Films Ltd., "Wildfires" is

films second Summer movie, "In God's Country," for CTV and Lifetime TV
*** -- Hot on the heels of his appearance at the Newport International
Film Festival, Richard was off to Toronto, Ontario to work with The
OC's Kelly Rowan on "In God's Country," a TV movie for Canada's CTV
and Lifetime TV in the US.
CTV's Susanne Boyce, President of Programming, gave this opening
description of the film: "In God's Country is a powerful, revealing
story of how one woman's unwavering determination gave her the strength
to fight a life-time of submission to save the lives of her children."
"Across North America, there are communities whose citizens adhere
to the nineteenth century Mormon belief that a man must have at least three
wives and as many children as possible in order to reach the highest level
of Heaven. A woman's role is to serve her husband and be submissive to
his needs," continued Boyce.
Richard plays Church Bishop Josiah Leavitt, the polygamist husband
of Rowan's character, Judith Joseph. Judith is one of the charismatic
Leavitt's six wifes, and mother to four of his children in addition to
her own older daughter from a previous marriage. Several traumatic events
spur Judith to do the unthinkable -- flee her small community with her
children. Leavitt, of course, gives pursuit, luring Judith's oldest daughter
back home with promises he doesn't intend to keep. Judith has no choice
but to return home and make a stand.
"In God's Country" is produced by Shaftesbury Films Inc in association
with Colossal Entertainment, Salient Point Productions, and CTV
as part of CTV's "Heroes, Champions, and Villains" series of original features.
The film will most likely air on Lifetime TV in 2007.

Film Festival, which was held June 6th - 11th in Newport, Rhode Island.
He was the featured speaker at a panel discussion titled "Inside Hollywood
with Richard Burgi," which was held on Wednesday, June 7th at 4:00pm
the Newport Blues Cafe. The NIFF website gave the following
description of the panel:
"Currently supporting the feisty females of Desperate Housewives, Richard
Burgi has had a varied film and television career. Appearing in such hit
TV shows as 24, Judging Amy and The District, but also in hit films, including
In Her Shoes, Fun with Dick and Jane and Starship Troopers 2. In addition
to his love of acting, Richard also supports several environmental conservation
efforts and is a proud family man. Join Richard for an intimate conversation
on his varied life and career at the Newport Blues Café."
The event was informal and relaxed, attended by an audience of 30 or
so, with many of the attendees being film-makers or actors in training.
An RBFC member in attendance gave the panel a new, tongue-in-cheek title:
Philosophy of Life 101, with a Beer Chaser." Richard was charming,
personable, approachable, and funny -- all hallmarks of his conduct and
demeanor at public events.

"If Mike recovers from that hit-and-run (and I hear he will), he'll
be happy to know Karl won't be standing in the way of him and Susan anymore,"
said Veitch. "I'm told that Richard Burgi, who plays Teri Hatcher's
ex-hubby, won't be meddling much longer because he's leaving the show!
I'm not sure how or why--maybe Edie's going to set him on fire or something?"
We have confirmed that while Richard will continue to appear in the

to the script, "He's a young cop who knows that he won't be in this small
town busting college students for party pranks for much longer. He thinks
he belongs somewhere between NYPD Blue and the cover of GQ."
The Species connection comes into play in the form of the beautiful
and -- let us say -- otherworldy young women who descend upon the college
campus in search of healthy and libidinous young men. Much as in Richard's

are eager to reproduce. Unlike their Monster counterparts, these alien
"femmes" are quite literally "fatales," as their reproductive process leaches
the body-heat right out of their unfortunate paramours.

temptresses leave a string of frozen young men in their wake.
