||[03 Mar 09]*** Richard's episode of
the FX Network's NIP/TUCK airs week of February 23rd 2009 ***
joined the cast of "NIP/TUCK" in mid-June for episode 5.21, titled
Caldarello." Part of an 8-episode block delayed by the WGA strike,
"Allegra Caldarello" and its back 8 brethren began airing in January 2009.
Richard plays Dr. Logan Taper, a highly-qualified plastic surgeon
Christian Troy (Julian McMahon) interviews and hires for a position
at McNamara/Troy. Qualified though he may be, Dr. Taper comes with
some unusual personal baggage in the form of a more obscure paraphilia
which, paired with his obsessive-compulsive behavior, leads to his tenure
at McNamara/Troy being short-lived.
The casting breakdown for Taper had this to say of the character: "35-45,
extremely attractive and refined, James Bond, after a martini. He is a
plastic surgeon with impeccable style and taste whose obsessive-compulsive
behavior is just one symptom of his extreme sexual compulsion." The
breakdown goes on to specify that the actor cast in the role must be comfortable
with sexual situations and rear nudity.

||[03 Mar 09] *** Richard's Karl
returns to "Desperate Housewives" for Spring Sweeps episode *** -- Turns
out even after the 5-year jump, Karl is still around to perplex and bedevil
his ex! Catch Richard on Sunday, March 22nd at 9:00pm ET when "Desperate
Housewives" airs on ABC.
Richard appears in the eighteenth episode of Season Five, "A Spark.
To Pierce the Dark" (episode 5.18), which filmed in February.
While the ABC press release for "A Spark. To Pierce the Dark" gives
no specifics of Karl's storyline, it does indicate considerable goings-on
on Wisteria Lane:
"Life is full of nasty shocks, on ABC's 'Desperate Housewives,' SUNDAY,
MARCH 22 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET). Bree considers selling her business to
save her marriage, Lynette is threatened by her new boss, boundaries are
crossed for Gaby and Carlos, Katherine is caught in the most unexpected
of circumstances and Edie's worst fears come true."
Other spoilers for the episode mention Susan, in her new job as teacher's
assistant, discovering that one of her young students is drawing violent
pictures; as Karl and second wife Marisa have a child roughly the same
age as Susan's MJ, it is possible that the disturbed youngster is Karl's.
As this is the eighteenth episode out of a total of twenty-four, it
is unlikely that Karl will appear in any further episodes this season.
While disappointing, this does continue the established pattern of bringing
Karl in for quickie appearances in Sweeps episodes. Assuming the
trend continues next season, we can probably look for Karl to pop back
up during Fall Sweeps
(Thanks to Richard for the heads up and to TWOP for the episode details)
||[03 Mar 09] *** Richard plays
father of the bride in new CBS series "Harper's Island" *** -- Richard
joined the cast of the 13-episode CBS midseason series "Harper's Island"
in early August, playing the part of Mr. Thomas Wellington. Wellington
is the patriarch of an Island blue-blood family and the father of bride-to-be
("Supernatural's" Katie Cassidy), whose "destination wedding" brings
the characters together on picturesque Harper's Island.
The show is currently scheduled to premiere at 10:00pm ET on Thursday,
April 9th and to remain in the post-CSI berth throughout its 13-episode
run, which ends on July 2nd.
Also featured in the cast are Jim Beaver ("Supernatural"), Elaine
Cassidy, Christopher Gorham ("Ugly Betty"), Cameron Richardson ("Point
Pleasant"), and Harry Hamlin ("L.A. Law," "Veronica Mars"). "Harper's
Island" is created by Ari Schlossberg and executive produced by
Jon Turteltaub, with Jeffrey Bell serving as showrunner.
CBS gave the following brief description of the show:
"The new drama, HARPER'S ISLAND, is a murder mystery that unfolds as
friends and family attend week-long festivities at a destination wedding
on a secluded and picturesque island off the coast of Seattle, infamous
for a homicidal maniac's rampage seven years ago."

||[03 Mar 09] *** "Friday
the 13th" now playing in theaters; Richard plays Officer Bracke *** --
Jared Padalecki ("Supernatural," "Thomas Kinkade's
Derek Mears ("The Hills have Eyes II"), and
Visitor ("Star Trek: Deep Space Nine"), among others, in the
Dunes produced reimagining of the 1980's horror hit, "Friday the
13th," which filmed in and around Austin, TX last May.
Richard plays Officer Bracke in the movie, which is set between
the events of the first and second "Friday the 13th" films; Pamela (Nana
Visitor) Voorhees, Jason's mad, mad mother and the actual killer of
the first film, is dead and already enshrined in Jason's (Derek Mears)
hovel hideaway, while Jason is all grown up and ready to take up his mother's
Jared Padalecki plays Clay, a man searching for his missing sister
last seen in Crystal Lake. Richard's Officer Bracke represents the
long arm of the Law in the Crystal Lake area; Bracke ran the local investigation
into the disappearance of Clay's sister and her three friends and predictably,
found no evidence of foul play.
As one would expect in a "Friday the 13th" story, the cast is fleshed
out with a selection of young people destined to run afoul of Jason Voorhees
as they snoop about the ramshackle remains of Camp Crystal Lake and engage
in impromptu bawdy romps amidst the ruins. Sadly, Officer Bracke suffers
the fate common to Crystal Lake lawmen who run afoul of the Voorhees clan
and his demise is both swift and sensational.
The film hit theaters on Friday, February 13th, 2009 and shot to
the top of the week's Box Office, bringing in more ticket sales in its
opening week than any other horror movie in history.

Richard worked in Prague, Czech Republic in late October 2006 on the much-anticipated
sequel to writer-director
Eli Roth's horror blockbuster, "Hostel."
The movie is now just days away from its January 3rd Showtime premiere.
Eli Roth gave MTV.com some teasing details on "Hostel: Part II,"
including an idea of how Richard's character Todd Rogers and his
Stuart (Roger Bart) McGenty fit into the overall story.
"The film is also following two guys who go through this experience
to kill somebody. And we know them really well, and they are very, very
likeable and they're very normal. It seems like there's nothing psycho
about them, except they are looking for some excitement in their life because
they are bored. ... That's going to be a parallel story. We see it
from the girl's perspective and we see it from the client's perspective.
We inter-cut both stories until they all meet in this horrible place. So,
we're going to learn everything about the organization, all the minutiae
